What is the Difference Between Similar But Different Things, Terms, and Objects

What is the Difference between Wireless Satellite T1 Fiber Isdn Dsl and Cable

There was a time, when only a limited number of sources were available in terms of communication and they were slow as well as time-taking. Advancement in technology has evolved many highly fast telecommunication sources like Wireless, Satellite, T1, Fiber, Isdn, Dsl and Cable.  In fact, all these sources are used for sending signals. However, there is a wide difference between them that is as below.

Wireless

When two or more points are not physically connected, and transference of information takes place between them, it is called as Wireless telecommunication. Distances very in this mode of transference, from very small like in TV and remote control, to very large like radio communication, in which difference between two points is millions of kilometers.

Satellite

Artificial satellite or commonly called satellite is such an object, which has been placed into orbit by human. These are computer controlled systems, which are not completely independent. Satellites perform nay tasks, for instance, telemetry, power generation and thermal control etc.

T1

T1 is a specific copper wire, which can transmit more data as compared to traditional telephone lines. Basically, it creates a pipe, which can transmit more data.

Fiber Optic

A transparent fiber, which is made from silica, is called as Fiber optic. It is as thin as human hair, and carries light between two ends of fiber. Fiber Optics is a vast field, which is concerned with the design and application of optical fiber.

ISDN

ISDN stands for Integrated Services Digital Network, a telephonic system which is circuit switched. Voice, video and data are transmitted over the traditional circuits and ISDN is a set of communication standards, which makes this task possible.

DSL

Digital data transmission takes place over the wires of local telephone network and the set of technologies, which make this possible, is called as DSL. This service is provided with regular telephone service, on the existing phone line.

Cable

When two or more wires run side by side, either bounded or twisted, to form a single cord, it is called as cable. Cables are used for different purposes, usually to carry current.

Wireless vs Satellite vs T1 vs Fiber vs Isdn vs Dsl vs Cable

Satellite internet is an option for rural areas, where DSL and cable cannot be installed. Optical fiber is also used these days; on the other hand ISDN is the oldest technology, used for internet provision. TI is widely used for business applications.
