What is the Difference between Plasma, LED and LCD TV
Plasma, LED and LCD are the three technologies available in flat screen TVs. All the three have different screen qualities and their price range as well. These three technologies are rarely found in one TV. Different TV companies claim different things about same technologies. However despite of what companies say, the common people should know what these technologies are and how they differ from each other and which technology has what advantages over the others.
Plasma
Plasma TV is a flat screen TV which contains individual plasma cells that activate themselves when the current passes through them. Plasma cells have the ability to turn themselves off where the screen is darker and they remain active at the bright sides of the TV screen. Plasma screen has better angel viewing.
LED
The light emitting diodes or LED is the primary technology used in the flat screen TVs. These TVs use the same liquid crystals but LEDs are used for the back light instead of CCFL. In LED Tvs the LEDs turn themselves off when on the darker part of the screen thus the image quality gets better.
LCD
Liquid crystal display as it is called is the technology, in which there are found liquid crystals between the display panels of the TV. When current passes through them, those liquid crystals activate themselves and then throw signals on the TV screen. LCD uses CCFL back light. When tv has to show darker pictures the crystals only dim themselves hence the darker pictures doesn’t look very dark. The angel off the LCD TV is also not very good when screen is viewed from an odd angle. The screen loses its quality and detail at once.
Plasma vs LED vs LCD TV
The first difference is in the contract ratio. In this concern, plasma screen gets the highest score due to the individual plasma cells. LED gets the superiority over LCDs because LEDs use the same technology except LEDs as back light which makes the picture quality better. The angle of plasma TV is better than LCD and LED. Plasma consumes more power and LEDs use the least.
