What is the Difference between Mixer, Turntable and Record Player
In the field of music, various developments have been made in the form of digital devices both for recording and playing music. Use of mixers is also very common in music industry to reproduce or remix the records in different manner. The people that do not know the use of musical instruments very well always have some confusions in their mind about three music instruments like Mixer, Turntable and Record Player. To clear this confusion, here is the difference between Mixer, Turntable and Record Player.
Mixer
Mixer is an electronic device that is used frequently in music industry and also called as DJ mixers. The actual purpose of DJ mixers is just to mix different sounds together that it takes from two or more audio sources and evolve it in a single output. It consists of disc jokes that allow a DJ to remix any sound record by introducing some different music in original track.
Turntable
Turntable is simply a circular platform of a phonograph that rotates and plays records when record is placed on it. You can say that turntable is a part of sound system that when connected with amplifier and speakers, act as audio source device. The use of turntables is still common in mixing the music.
Record Player
Record players that are also called phonograph or gramophone are simply used to play sound records. Record players were old musical instruments that were used to play large discs. Being the old music devices, they are not used nowadays thanks to latest digital musical sound players. Today, only old record players can be seen in few numbers, as they are no more produced nowadays.
Mixer vs Turntable vs Record Player
Among all these musical instruments that are known as Mixer, Turntable and Record Player, record players are no more these days due to their old analogue technology. However, there was a time, when only record players were used to play or reproduce sound records by placing large discs on their turntable. On the other hand, turntables are just the part of sound producing devices in the form of revolving platforms after placing the discs on it. One major difference between turntable and record player is that, a turntable has to be connected with amplifier and speakers to produce sound instead of record player that itself has amplifier and speakers as its parts. While we provide audio feeds to DJ mixers from many sources just to mix the sound together in the form of single output.
