What is the Difference between Ia64, X86 and X64
The computer you use needs physical components to make it work. One of those components is called processor. Processor is the main components of computer that does multitasking, generating machine cycles, used for mathematical instructions etc. to run processor. There are drivers installed to run the applications that are a set of instructions for the architecture we have. The architecture of the computer is either 32 bit or 64 bit. The varying need of the advancements in technology needs better instructions set to be used for processor, few of them are x86, x64, IA 64.
X86
X86 are instruction sets of architecture for processor created by the intel for 8086 CPU. This instruction set was introduced in 1978 and it was for a 16 bit processor. This was a progress in the 8080 8 bit processor instructions set by Microsoft that was used earlier.
X64
X64 is the extension of x 86-64. This is a highly specialized instruction set for processors that are 64 bits in architecture. It has larger virtual and physical address spaces that were not present in x86, so it is best for programmers with larger dataset and other properties.
IA64
Itanium IA 64 is 64 bit microprocessor by intel. This advance and high space instruction system is for the servers and high performance computing systems. This was originally developed by HP and later on worked on jointly by intel and HP. T works as instruction level parallelism through which the processor decides to execute which transaction in parallel.
X86 vs X64 vs IA-64
X86 is 16 bit instruction set for processor developed by intel and was an advancement of 8 bit 80 processor. The x 64 also called x 86-64 is the instruction set for the intel processor with much ease for the programmers with wide dataset. The IA 64 instruction set by first developed by HP and later on both intel and HP worked on it. It is the most advanced system of instructions.
