What is the Difference between Hardware and Software

Computers have revolutionized the lives of human beings. They are opening new paths of inventions and all the advancement in the field of technology is due to the existence of computers. Computers consist of mainly two parts. One is hardware like mouse, keyboard etc and the other one is called software which consist of different programs in computer like anti-viruses etc.

Hardware

Mainly, the word hardware means something that we can touch or hold. In the world of computers this word is used for the computer parts, which we can hold or the material things. The hardware of the computer consist of mouse, keyboard, CPU, monitor etc. These tools are used for giving different commands to the computer or to communicate with the computer. Moreover, these hardware devices are also used to run software present in computer or to use them efficiently.

Software

 A collection of computer programs and related data that tells the computer what to do and how to do is called software. It is a set of procedures, programs, algorithms and its documentation. Software is of various types ranging from application software to drivers, programmers to window systems. The computer software has wide affects on the daily life of human being. It has not only revolutionized the industry, but also has increased the speed of work. The anti-viruses and other useful software like this are of key importance for the life of today’s industry.

Hardware vs Software

The main and crystal clear difference between hardware and software is that hardware is touchable. It is a physical thing but on the other hand software is a collection of information stored in the computer and they cannot be touched. Another difference between hardware and software is that generally a computer can run without software but it is impossible to run a computer in the absence of any hardware device.
