What is the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz
Frequency is the measure of repetitions or occurrences of anything per unit time. Frequency is a derived quantity. Its SI unit is Hertz and it is denoted as Hz. Actually, 1 Hz means the number of repetitions in one second. If a sinusoidal wave repeats itself 15 times in one second than its frequency is 15Hz. Similarly, 60 Hz and 120 Hz are the two entirely different terms. To elaborate their differences, here is a comprehensive description.
60 Hz
As, Hz is the measure of repetition in one second, so 60 Hz means the occurrence of an incident repeatedly 60 times in one second. You can say that the to and fro movement of pendulum is 60 times in one second.
120 Hz
It is very simple to clear the concept of frequency by taking an example of simple harmonic motion. If, a simple pendulum is moving back and forth, 120 times per second. You can say, its frequency is 120 Hz. It means, 120 Hz frequency is the repetition of any movement for 120 times within one second.
60Hz vs 120Hz
60 Hz and 120 Hz are two different frequencies, which could be of anything. The main difference between them is the number of cycles or repetitions. The second main difference is their wavelength because frequency and wavelength are reciprocal to each other. However, there is another thing, which could be measured in terms of frequency. Here, we are talking about refresh rate of an LCD Screen. It is the rate at which picture is changed on an LCD in one second. Obviously at higher refresh rate, motion quality of a screen is better. You can say that a display device with refresh rate of 60 Hz gives a little blur and soggy picture, while a new display device with 120 Hz give more sharp and crispy video Quality.
