What is the Difference between Physical Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology and Exercise Science
Exercise is no doubt, one of the key necessities of human life. Exercises are of various types and every type has some specific impact upon health of human being. Some exercises are suggested by doctors to cure disabilities and some are performed to maintain health on regular basis. Similarly sports activities are also considered as best exercises. Physical Therapy, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology and Exercise Science are the names of some types of physical exercises that are different from each other in some respects. Let’s discuss the difference between these exercises.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy is the set of much specified exercises that are performed to cure any physical disability. The exercises related to Physical therapy are of different types depends upon type of physical disability. Physical therapy is performed under the observation of certified physical therapists.
Exercise Physiology
Exercise physiology is the study of impacts of various exercises upon human body. When a person performs a certain type of exercise, it means he is definitely exerting pressure or stress upon any one of its body part. Now the mobility of body organ in this way is right for him or not and what are the consequences of this exercise, all these things are studied in exercise physiology.
Kinesiology
Kinesiology is very closely related branch of exercise science to exercise physiology. In fact, kinesiology is also the study of observing results of different sorts of exercises, but in this branch, we not just consider exercise the fully responsible for any certain impact upon human body, we also see different factors as well that could be responsible of that particular impact upon human body. The other factors could be eating habits, over-eating or empty belly, whole day activities etc.
Exercise Science
Exercise Science is the vast name that includes all branches and studies related to exercise like types of exercises, its good and bad impacts upon human body, correct frequency, duration and proper way of doing any particular exercise.
Physical Therapy vs Exercise Physiology vs Kinesiology vs Exercise Science
Physical therapy is somewhat different thing than Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology. No doubt, this is also a type of exercise, but its purpose and way of doing exercise is different than regular exercise. It is done just for impairment of any physical disability. On the other hand, both Exercise Physiology and Kinesiology are the branches of exercise science. In exercise physiology, we observe the results of exercise and in kinesiology, we observe the results on exercise and other including factors like health condition and eating status.
