What is the Difference between Independence, Freedom and Liberty
Words like independence, freedom and liberty are commonly heard and we often use them interchangeably. These words have more or less similar meanings but yet they are different. However, it is really important to understand the meaning of each word to use them properly. Here we are mentioning brief differences between them, which will make it easier for a common person to understand them.
Independence
The word independence is used for a country or state, when the residents of the nation enjoy self government in that particular country. When a nation is not independent, we call it dependent territory. In broader sense when some group or groups of people have complete control on certain geographical area, we call it independence.
Freedom
Freedom is in fact, autonomy of expressing views in public places even against the government and have rights to go everywhere within the independent state. In broader sense, we can say that people living in that independent state with freedom only when every person living in that particular area of land have equal rights and no fear about expressing his views both at national and international forum. However, this is the state that gives the people such freedom. Even an independent state can grasp the freedom of his nationals by applying conditions upon people about talking anything against the government.
Liberty
Liberty is the word that is also used for independence and freedom of people, but in different sense. Normally, we use the word liberty at that time when we see that people of any independent country have rights to wear anything of their own choice, and go everywhere with anyone. In such situation, we say that people are living with liberty.
Independence vs Freedom vs Liberty
Most of people do not differentiate between Independence and Freedom. However, there are still some intellectuals that take the meaning of both words in different sense. It is not necessary always that you are occupying a certain area of land that is ruled by your people, but still you have freedom. Freedom is entirely different thing from independence. We specifically use the word freedom when people can speak anything about their own choice even against the government policies. On the other hand, liberty is the advanced degree of freedom in which people not only have rights to talk about any person, but feel free to wear anything and go anywhere within the independent state.
