What is the Difference between Bacteria and Virus
Bacteria and Virus are two commonly used terms in our daily life. When we become ill and get the cause behind our disease, we found responsible either one of them. However, we cannot blame bacteria in place of some viral infection and vice versa. The reason is that not only symptoms but treatment of diseases related to either one are entirely different. Here are some crystal clear differences between bacteria and viruses.
Bacteria
Bacteria are microscopic unicellular living organisms. You can estimate the total number of bacteria by this fact that there are almost one million bacteria in one ml water. However, not all bacteria are harmful, some are useful as well. The growing procedure of these living organisms is asexual and they need no host or source for their reproduction. Strep throat is an example of bacterial infection, which can be cured easily by using antibiotic.
Virus
Viruses are non-living microscopic agents and must need some host cell of any living body for their reproduction. All viruses are harmful for living creatures. The reason is that they destroy the host cells for producing copies of original viruses. Flu is a very common example of viral disease. Unluckily, we cannot cure viral diseases with the help of antibiotics.
Bacteria vs Virus
The key difference between bacteria and virus is their living and no-living status respectively. Viruses have size range from 20–400 nm, which is very small as compared to bacteria that are approximately 1000 nm. Bacteria need no host cell for their reproduction like viruses, which need host cells of any living organism for their reproduction. Similarly, ribosomes are present in bacteria rather than viruses. Moreover, some bacteria play very constructive role in human life as compared to viruses, which are all harmful for human beings and other living organisms as well.
