What is the Difference between Weather and Whether
English is a vast language, and being an international language, many people use it for communication. In this language some words are called as homophones, these words have same pronunciation but different meaning. There are many examples of these words, weather and whether also belong to same category. They are two different words with different meaning but their pronunciation is same. This make them quite confusing, here we are mentioning difference between them.
Weather
Weather is the state of atmosphere, which is associated with being hot, cold, dry, stormy, clear or cloudy. Generally speaking, temperature, rain, wind and snow are characteristics of weather. Different weather prevails in different parts of world, at different times. Sun rays play an important role in weather of a particular area. Weather has strong effect on the lives of people, as it affects culture, dressings and eating habits.
Whether
The word whether is use to mention the possibilities or in other words, we use this word when there are two or more alternatives. For instance, “I want to know, whether you are leaving or not”. Sometimes it also describes the sense of doubt. Whether is also used as an alternative for the word if. You can find many examples also.
Weather vs Whether
These two words have entirely different meaning, but often used interchangeably, due to same pronunciation. Weather describes the climate and temperature conditions of an area, on the other hand the word whether is used to describe different choices and alternatives. Weather is usually used as nous also, but whether is used as conjunction between two alternatives. Weather is also used as idiom at different places, while at the other hand whether is used as the alternative of the word “if”. Weather is a climatic condition, while whether is just a word in English language.
