What is the Difference between Mrs, Ma’am, Miss and Ms
All honorifics like Mrs, Ma'am, Miss and Ms are commonly used for women, depends upon their marital status or some other facts. In present age, this matter has become very complex and people always remain confuse about the use of these honorifics. They do not know exactly that which woman is lying in what status even after knowing their marital status. If you really want to get out from this confusion, just read these few lines.
Mrs
It should be noted that women who have been married or even becomes widowed she may still use the Mrs. In simple words, Mrs. is an honorific that is only used for married women.
Ma’am
If the woman is a working lady, then the most appropriate honorific for that lady is not other than Ma’am. In a broader sense, Ma’am is typically used for those women who are married as well as working lady.
Miss
Miss is typically used for a young girl or even a teenager, but unmarried. Women are traditionally addressed at a young age before marriage as "Miss".
Ms
Ms. is used by a woman who is usually single, of an age where she isn't thought of as a little girl or isn't necessarily married, but could be married and doesn't wish to use Mrs. In short, you can say that Ms is commonly used for feminist.
Mrs vs Ma'am vs Miss vs Ms
The three terms like Mrs, Miss and Ms are normally used for mistress of house. However, Mrs used for married women and Miss for Unmarried women. While, Ms. generally means a woman is either divorced or doesn't want anyone to know if she is married or not as well as she is divorced or not. On the contrary, Ma’am is used for married but working women.
