What is the Difference between Eau de Perfume and Eau de Toilette

Like every other creature, human begins also have a particular smell in their bodies. Combined with dirt and sweat this smell converts into a bad body odor, which annoys people around us. To avoid this odor, people use different kinds of scents and aromatic compounds. These scents hide the bad body odors and give a pleasant feeling to the people around us. Many types of these scents are available in the market. Whenever you plan to buy a scent usually you come across two terms, Eau de Perfume and Eau de Toilette. People use them interchangeably, but actually they both are different.

Eau de Perfume

This is a French terms, which means water of perfume. We can define perfume as “A perfume is a liquid having medium to high concentration of perfumed oils in comparison to the water or alcohol content of the solution”. Every perfume has different composition, which is usually kept secret. However, generally it has 15 % aromatic compound, the particles which actually create fragrance. The rest 85 % is consists of water and ethanol.

Eau de Toilette

This is another French term, which means water of the toilette. In this type of scent the solution has medium to low concentration of perfumed oils. If we talk about its composition, it has around 10% aromatic compounds and the concentration of ethanol is generally higher than water.

Eau de Perfume vs Eau de Toilette

They both are types of scent but yet they are different from each other. Eau de perfume has higher concentration of aromatic compounds as compared to Eau de Toilette. Eau de perfumes last longer than Eau de toilette. Moreover, Eau de perfumes are more expansive as compared to Eau de toilette. If you have long working hours, either apply perfume or you have to use Eau de toilette at least twice in the day.
