What is the Difference between Proxy, Remote Desktop, Vps, Vlan and Vpn
Today, computer networking has become a vast field thanks to its day-by-day rapidly increasing value and demand. Every small and large computer-based business is using computer networking techniques according to its requirement. Proxy, Remote Desktop, Vps, Vlan and Vpn are the names of some computer networking techniques that allow us to get involve in many client computers by means of a single server or main computer. Here are the differences between these networking techniques.
Proxy
When we talk about computer networks, a server which acts as an intermediary medium between clients and other servers, it is called as proxy server. A client usually requests for a file, web page or a connection. Proxy server analyzes that request and connects the client with respective server.
Remote Desktop
Remote Desktop service is an important component of Microsoft windows 2008 R2. It is also called as terminal service. It allows the users to access applications and other data on a remote computer over a network of computers.
Vps
Virtual private server is commonly called as VPS. This term is usually used for internet hosting services and refers to a virtual machine. This virtual machine runs either on the same computer or on the other one but fulfils need of the user in a private capacity.
Vlan
Virtual local area network or Vlan is a group of hosts which have common requirements and communicate in a way as they are attached with single broadcast domain. Their communication does not get affected by the distances between them.
Vpn
Network that uses public telecom infrastructure to offer network to the remote offices and travelling passengers is called as Vpn or virtual private network. Example of vpn is internet.
Proxy vs Remote Desktop vs Vps vs Vlan vs Vpn
Proxy acts as bridge server between clients and their required servers. Remote desktop is a component of Microsoft windows 2008 and allow its users to access data from a distance through a network of computers. Vps is a virtual mechine that runs usually on other computer and user can work in complete privacy. Vlan is a group of hosts, having common requirements and attached with single broadcast domain. Vpn utilizes public infrastructure and provide internet services to the far off offices and traveling users.
