Electronic Medical Record

Personal Health Record
Personal Health Record or PHR is the type of health or medical record which is maintained by the patient itself. PHR is also a such medical record which can be shared online with the doctors and all clinicians. The medical records which are include in Personal Health Record are lab reports, collection of results from electronic but online lab instruments and response of patients. PHR can also be maintained via Smartphones.
Electronic Medical Record vs Personal Health Record
The crystal clear and most obvious difference between Electronic Medical Record and Personal Health Record is that, Electronic Medical Record is the medical record which is maintained by clinicians or hospital governing bodies instead of Personal Health Record which is managed by the patient itself. No doubt, the health records includes in both types of medical records are the same which are diagnostic reports, patient’s history, medical history and all related information, however, EMR is more confidential information as compared to PHR. Similarly, both Electronic Medical Record and Personal Health Record can be shared online and both are electronic records. It is a different matter that PHR can be edited by patient in contrast to EMR which can only be edited and regulated by the physicians and clinicians bodies of a hospital.
