What is the Difference between Bikram Power Iyengar Ashtanga and Hatha Yoga
Yoga is a popular form of exercise, which is practiced to attain perfect physical, mental and spiritual balance. It has its roots in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism. With the passage of time, people made many changes and different styles of yoga were evolved. Here we are discussing differences between few popular styles of yoga.
Bikram Yoga
Bikram Yoga got its name after the name of the inventor, Bikram Choudhury. It was synthesized in 1970s. This is a type of hot yoga. The yoga class runs for 90 minutes and it has 26 postures and two breathing exercises. It is practiced in hot room having 40 C temperatures.
Power Yoga
Power yoga is the modern form of yoga. This yoga style is similar with the Ashtanga yoga but it does not follow a set rule of series. Any power yoga class will be different from the other one. This yoga is practiced in many European countries. Many gyms offer Power yoga classes.
Iyengar Yoga
This yoga was created by the B.K.S. Iyengar. It is derived from the hatha yoga and considered as one of the traditional yoga styles. In this yoga different props are used. Usually belts, blocks and blankets are used to perform sets of exercises.
Ashtanga Yoga
This yoga system was modified by the Pattabhi Jois. This is also based on the traditional yoga system, which involved eight limbs.
Hatha Yoga
This yoga system was introduced by the Yogi Swatmarama in the 15th century. S The general term yoga is referred for the Hatha yoga. It is based on postures and breathing exercises, which we see in typical yoga practices.
Bikram vs Power vs Iyengar vs Ashtanga vs Hatha Yoga
All yoga systems are different from each other. Bikram yoga is the type of hot yoga which can be performed in a hot room only, while all other types are form of normal yoga. Power yoga and Asthanga yoga has same roots but power yoga is more flexible in its practices. Iyengar yoga involves use of props to maintain the proper balance of body. Props are not used in any other yoga form. Hatha yoga is the traditional and most popular form of yoga, which is practiced in many countires.
