Life is the name of gathering and staying connected with the people. Nobody can lead its life in isolation or without developing relations with the people. Now to stay in touch with the people, we need to communicate with them. To communicate with the people, there are some terms which we use to deliver our views. These terms are Talk, Rumors, Conversation, Gossip and Slander. Normally, there looks no difference between these terms, but it is not. The terms Talk, Rumors, Conversation, Gossip and Slander are different from each others in many respects. So here is the overview of this difference.
Talk
Talk or talking is just the speaking with someone to express feelings or give some information. For example: He is talking to me that this gift is for me.
Rumors
Rumor is the word which is often used in the meaning of disinformation. By definition, rumor is such unverified information which is circulated in the society from person to person and the exact meaning or nature of information goes change entirely.
Conversation
Conversation is the word which is usually used for group discussion either between two persons either more than two persons on a particular subject.
Gossip
Gossip is the inappropriate way of sharing private or personal matters of others. This is a type of idle talk in which a person shares the information about some other person into the ear of one person.
Slander
Slander is the way of sharing the wrong information about any person to damage its repute. You can use the word “Slander” when such information floats between two persons which could be dangerous for the person about which this information is concerned.
Talk vs Rumors vs Conversation vs Gossip vs Slander
Talk is just sharing information or expressing ideas by means of speaking. All other terms which are Rumors, Conversation, Gossip and Slander are the sub-categories of talk or talking. Conversation is used in the meaning of a discussion between two or more persons about any specific topic. Gossip is the talk in an unsuitable way about any person or way of sharing information about any person into the ears of each other which is ethically wrong. Rumor is the unverified information which floats within a community and changes the right information. On the other hand slander is absolutely wrong information which is shared between two or more people.
