What is the Difference between Texting, BBM, IM, SMS and MMS
Mobile phones have changed the meaning of distances and have made it very easy to contact people hundreds and thousands of miles away by just clicking a button on your cell phone. In early days it was very costly to call people abroad or even within country but now new packages and technology has made it quite affordable to contact people anywhere in the world. The text messaging has made it easier to contact people and it is costs far less than call. Probably it is the least costly way to contact the people around the world. Some of the types of messaging are discussed here which include sms, mms, and few more.
Texting
The exchange of short words or messages between two people through their cell phones is called texting. This message is called text message and the one who does it is known as texter.
BBM
It is an internet based application which is included in black berry phones to communicate between two black berry devices. It is an messenger application through which two black berry phones can interchange instant messages
IM
It is one push instant messaging service in which user communicates with other people by just a push of a button instantly. The chat on face book is an example of instant messaging.
SMS
It is the most commonly used messaging service. It is called short messaging service and is used majorly by mobile phone users. It is believed to be the almost free of cost method to transfer messages.
MMS
It is a kind of messaging in which we can send pictures, photos and music files through our mobile phones
Texting vs BBM vs IM vs SMS vs MMS
BBM is only an application of messaging between two black berries while SMS is messaging between any phones. IM is the instant messaging service without any wait for the process while through MMS we can send multimedia data. Texting is a way to communicate to other people through SMS, MMS, IM or BBM.
