What is the Difference between Greek Yogurt and Regular Yogurt
Yogurt is one of the most eatable things, in every corner of the world. Even doctors suggest eating yogurt regularly because of the immense benefits; one can get from eating yogurt. Yogurt being a milk-product is also seen as a good diet for the kids. Its cold-effects reduce the effect of heat in summers. In Asian countries, especially in Pakistan and India, “lasii” is made with yogurt to kill the summer heat. Yogurt is not just yogurt any more, it is either “GREEK” or “REGULAR” that means, people have choice now.
Greek Yogurt
Greek yogurt was there for thousands of years, but even was not known to people until recently. Its introduction is based on its difference from the regular yogurt. It is tripe strained that is, more and more water is drained out of this yogurt. This makes it creamier and thinker. Creamy and thick yogurt not only looks good but also tastes better because it contains lesser sodium, which makes it less sour.
Regular Yogurt
Regular yogurt is that, one can found and eat everywhere. You ask for yogurt and people will give you a can full of yogurt. Anyway, the regular yogurt is double strained, less thick yogurt which is prepared from milk by active culture just like Greek yogurt. It contains good number of carbohydrates which help gaining weight. That’s why kids are given yogurt so that they can put on weight and look healthy.
Greek vs Regular Yogurt
Greek yogurt contains more proteins than the regular yogurt. That’s why it is liked more than the regular yogurt by the health conscious people. Greek yogurt contains fewer carbohydrates than the regular one. Moreover, Greek yogurt is thick, creamy and a better substitute for sour cream in cooking. It also looks good while used in salads. Greek yogurt has a longer shelf life than the regular yogurt which means we have liberty to keep Greek yogurt for longer period of time.
