What is the Difference between Average Mode Standard Deviation Mean and Median
Mathematics and statistics are the most advanced field of study and all the branches of study depends upon them for further advancement and research. This is the only mathematics as well as statistics that is independent field of study. Average, Mode, Standard Deviation, Mean and Median are some statistical terms and there is a great difference between these terms.
Average
The average of two or more than two values is calculated by adding up all the values and then divides the answer with total number of values. For example,
X = X1 + X2 + X3 + …… / n
Mode
In any data, we call the mode to that number that present in data set more than any other number. When the occurrence of numbers in any data set would be same, it means that data set has no mode. Moreover, the mode in a data set could be more than one as well.
Standard Deviation
The measurement of precision for any average value in a data set is called standard deviation. In fact, this is the measurement of random error in any given data set.
Mean
Mean is just like same the average value of any given data set. The method of calculation to measure mean is also same, as of finding an average value.
Median
The middle number of any data set is known as median. However, to determine the median of a given data set, it is compulsory to arrange the numbers in an order to avoid confusion.
Average vs Mode vs Standard Deviation vs Mean vs Median
The median is the middle number of all your values; the mode is the number that occurs in abundance in any data set. Average and mean is the same thing. While, the standard deviation gives an idea of how close the entire set of data is to the average value.
Example: If you had numbers 7, 5, and 6
you would put them in order 5, 6 ,7
and find the middle number or median, which is 6.
So if you have values 5, 6, 6, 8, 9, 6, 7
the number that comes up the most is 6 so the mode is 6; while the average and mean are 6.71.
