What is the Difference between ACT, SAT, MCAT, GRE and GMAT

You know well that when we want to get admission in any high-level school or college, we must have to pass some aptitude test according to requirement of that institution. Actually, aptitude test are of different nature, depends upon the education level.  Some famous aptitude tests are like ACT, SAT, MCAT, GRE and GMAT. People, usually remain confuse about the nature of these test and their validation for the level of education. Here is a key difference between these aptitude tests.

ACT

To get admission in high schools or colleges, a standard test system is called American College Testing or ACT. The governing body that launches this test is called ACT Inc. In fact, this is the checking criteria of examining the student’s capability to compete college level and four major subjects are taken in this regard like Mathematics, English, Science and Reading.

SAT

Another standard test system for evaluation of students’ ability to get admission in colleges is called SAT Reasoning Test. The earlier name of this test system was Scholar Assessment Test. The conducting body of SAT is College Board itself and they check the literacy and writing skill of students for securing admission in college.

MCAT

For getting admission in medical colleges, a standard computer-based test is conducted for students, called MCAT or Medical Admission Test. The areas of test are physical sciences, verbal reasoning and biological sciences.

GRE

To get admission in any graduate level school, students are supposed to pass GRE or Graduate Record Examination. The aim of this type of exam is evaluation of analytical writing, verbal reasoning, critical approach etc.

GMAT

The admission criteria for graduate business studies is GMAT or Graduate Management Admission Test. The covering fields of this test are mathematics and English.

ACT vs SAT vs MCAT vs GRE vs GMAT

ACT has a science section while SAT doesn’t have. ACT has more advanced math concepts than SAT. MCAT is so hard and difficult as compared to GRE. Moreover, there is no vocabulary on the MCAT verbal. GRE is both paper-based and computer-based. However, GMAT is only computer-based. Total duration of GRE is 150 minutes, while duration of GMAT is 180.
