What is the Difference between Heartburn, Chest Pain, Angina and Heart Attack
Advancement of science and technology has brought many comforts in human life. But many diseases are also gifted by this fast pacing life. In old times heart attack and angina were very rare, but now a day, a large number of people are victim of these diseases. Heartburn, Chest pain, Angina and heart attack are some cardiac related problems, which are often confused with each other. Her, we are discussing differences between them.
Heartburn
Heartburn is a burning sensation in the chest. It starts from the chest but it may spread towards neck and throat. Basically it is a stomach problem and associated with the irregular production of gastric acid. However, this pain may be an earlier symptom of a heart disease. So, proper diagnosis is necessary.
Chest Pain
Chest pain is usually considered an emergency condition, which can be an earlier symptom of many serious health problems. It is not necessary that the origin of this disease is cardiac, but this pain is always considered as serious problem.
Angina
A severe pain in the chest, which is caused by the lack of oxygen supply to the heart muscles, is called as Angina. Although, angina is treated as heart attack, but it’s just a pain in heart muscles.
Heart Attack
Heart attack is the common name of Myocardial Infarction. In this situation, supply of blood to the heart is interrupted, which leads to death of heart cells. The main reason behind the heart attack is the blockage of blood vessels, which supply blood to the heart.
Heartburn vs Chest pain vs Angina vs Heart Attack
Heart burn is a stomach disorder and is related to gastric acid. Chest pain is a common feeling in case of heart attack, Angina and heartburn but heart attack can occur without chest pain. Chest pain in Angina is more severe than the common chest pain. Angina is caused by lack of oxygen supply, while in heart attack blood vessels are blocked.
