What is the Difference between Sales and Marketing
No doubt, both “sales and marketing” are the names of two different techniques for the revenue generation. However, there is always a little bit confusion in the minds of people about these two different terminologies. To avoid this confusion, here are some crystal clear differences between sales and marketing.
Sales
A sale, as its name, is the act of selling. This is the commercial activity of selling a product or service. Sales is now a most important and focused department in the corporate sector. Because of the growing competition and large Varity of products for the multiple uses, corporate sector has become more concerning about the selling of their products very effectively. For this purpose, multiple techniques have been used from simple to complex methods about selling of products.
Marketing
Marketing is an overall activity to identify and satisfy the customers. Marketing generates the overall strategy for sales techniques. There are seven P’s of marketing, which deal with the product promotion, suitable places, the target market and the pricing of the product as well. Marketing has changed its way and now it has become more advanced and complex, because of high competition among different companies.
Sales vs Marketing
Marketing and sales are different in their meanings from very foundation. Marketing makes and builds sales with an effective marketing strategy, which is not a desired activity in terms of sales. Furthermore, a sales department uses different techniques to attract customers, like advertising, public relations etc. On the other side, marketing provides not only the basis for establishing and maintaining relations, but also it takes all the responsibility to pave new ways for sales department. Marketing is three-way strategy, which includes the relationship marketing, industrial marketing and business marketing. Marketing attracts customers, while the sales not. This is the biggest difference, one can make in both the terms.
