What is the Difference between Python, Anaconda, Alligator and Crocodile
Reptiles are cold blooded animals. They fall in the class of reptilian. They are characterized by breathing air, laying shelled eggs except for some vipers and constrictor snakes that give live birth, and having skin covered in scales and scutes. No doubt, the animals belong to class reptile have similarities in various characteristics. However, they differ in species, physical appearances and many other features as well. Here is a comprehensive difference between some famous reptiles like Python, Anaconda, Alligator and Crocodile.
Python
One of the largest snakes worldwide that belongs to non-venomous genus of snakes is known as python. This specie is normally located in Asia, Africa and Australia regions. Pythons are found in various genera and spices that are 8 and 26 respectively.
Anaconda
Another one of the largest snakes is called anaconda that has also non-venomous genus. The hometown of anaconda is tropical South America. Generally, the name “anaconda” is used for only one snake specie that is green anaconda having scientific name “Eunectes Murinus”.
Alligator
The family and genus of alligator is “Alligatoridae” and “Crocodilian”. This class of reptiles is usually fearful in nature and avoids the presence of human being. The diet of young alligators is small fishes, snails and insects. However, the mature ones can eat turtles, large fishes, birds and even other reptiles. Presently, there are two major species of alligators called Chinese alligators and American alligators.
Crocodile
The family of crocodile is “Crocodylidae”. These are very complex form of reptiles. These are very ensnare animals and can wait for several hours for their prey like fish and land animals. They come close to their prey very slowly and attack at once. These are cold-blooded and can live without food for several days.
Python vs Anaconda vs Alligator vs Crocodile
Pythons and Anacondas are no doubt the greatest snakes in the world. However, anacondas and pythons belong to two different families of snakes. Anacondas belong to boa family, while python belongs to Pythonidae family. Similarly, Alligators and crocodiles belongs to different families like alligatoridae and crocodylidae respectively. Crocodiles have functioning lingual salt glands, while alligators don't.
