What is the Difference between Jackrabbit, Hare, Rabbit and Bunny
Beautiful animals add beauty in this world, especially rabbits and hares like small animals, which are very good-looking to see. They are of different types and found all over the world in various climatic conditions. They have different colors and shapes. Moreover, they adopt their habitat in different ways. Let’s have a brief look on the difference between all of them.
Rabbit
Rabbits are small mammals. They are from leporidae family. They found in several areas of world. There are 8 different genera in their family, which classified as rabbits. They include European rabbit, cottontail rabbit and the amami rabbits. The male rabbit is called a buck and female called a doe. Rabbits live in groups. They live in meadows, woods, grasslands and weatlands. They eat grass, forbs and leafy weeds.
Jackrabbit
Jackrabbits or black-tailed rabbits are also known as American desert hare. They are the common rabbits of west America and Mexico. They found on elevations from sea level up to 10,000 feet. They are 2 feet long and have weight of 1.4 – 2.7 kg. They do not hibernate in snow seasons and habitat in small areas. Their diet is various shrubs, small trees and forbs.
Hare
Hare belongs to genus lepus. A less then one year hare is called leverets. They normally live in pair not in group. They are very fast moving and have a speed 72 km/hr. they habitat in nests over the ground. Their bodies are naturally capable to absorb g-force, when they run in high speed with high jumps. They are totally different from domestic rabbits.
Bunny
Bunny is also called rabbit. They are same species from a same family. Their habitation and food is also same. Bunny is a very famous cartoon character known as Bugs Bunny.

The difference between rabbit and hare is that, rabbits are small in size and weight then hare. Rabbit is a common domestic pet and habitats in meadows, woods and grasslands. While hare is bigger then rabbit and it cannot be domesticated. They also differ in habitation. The difference between rabbits and jackrabbit is, jackrabbit is special specie found in west United States and Mexico, while rabbits are found all over the world. Jackrabbits are of two types, black-tailed and white-tailed jackrabbits. They found on elevations from sea level up to 10,000 feet, which makes them different with domestic rabbit.
