What is the Difference between Western Chinese Alternative Traditional Medicine
Use of medicine is a compulsory thing for treatment of diseases and we all know that there are different types of medicines is available in the market. Here, I am not differentiating medicines on behalf of chemical formulas or nature of diseases. I am talking about different types of medicines that belong to different cultures or various eras. In fact, some people have trust on modern medicines, while some like to use traditional medicines and particularly belong to their own region. Western, Chinese, Alternative and Traditional Medicine are the types of such medicines and here is a key difference between them.
Western Medicine
Western medicine is the term used for treatment of diseases by means of drugs and surgery. This type of treatment is popular in western European countries and United States of America.
Chinese Medicine
Chinese medicine is the medicine practice is based upon theoretical Chinese concepts that were developed in China for 2000 years ago. Some famous forms of Chinese medicine are like herbal medicine, dietary therapy, acupuncture, exercise and massage. Chinese medicine is a popular treatment in many Asian countries.
Alternative Medicine
The origin or base of alternative medicine is not scientific techniques at all, but it is such group of healing practices that is originated from cultural traditions, spiritual believes and folk knowledge.
Traditional Medicine
Traditional medicine includes all those medicines that were used before evolution of modern medicine or origin of bio-medical field. A long list of medicines that were common in various societies are included in the definition of traditional medicine like herbal, Unani, Islamic, traditional Chinese and African medicines etc. Still a large community is using these medicines rather than having trust on modern medicine and this practice is popular especially in eastern countries.
Western vs Chinese vs Alternative vs Traditional Medicine
Western medicine is the only type of medicine among all these names that is based upon modern medicine and surgery is also a part of this treatment along with use of drugs. Chinese medicine is purely based upon ancient Chinese concepts to cure diseases and mostly do not believe on surgery. Alternative medicine is entirely weird form of medicine that is also known as healing practice due to having base on some spiritual and cultural knowledge. Similarly, traditional medicine includes all types of medicines that are not a part of modern medicine and not used in western culture as well.
