What is the Difference between Shortening, Spread, Butter and Margarine
The human beings need energy to survive and to perform regular activities of daily life. They get energy in form of calories which is obtained from different types of food and eatables. These materials are necessary for not only providing energy but they also make the human fit and healthy and makes him able to cop up with the difficulties of life. There are some things which are preferred by the humans in their diet as they prefer to take light breakfast and for this purpose they use several things.
Shortening
It is referred to any kind of fat which stays solid at room temperature. It is also used to make a kind of pastry and is also used to prevent the cross between the gluten molecules and other sticking material.
Spread
It is the type of product which is eaten by spreading it over the bread and other bread products. It is also used in the bread products to add flavor and texture. It is an essential part of the dish.
Butter
It is a dairy product and is prepared usually by the churning of the fresh fermented cream. It is also made by churning of milk and is used by spreading over bread. It is obtained usually from cow’s milk.
Margarine
It is the substitute of the butter and is used in the same way as butter by spreading over the bread. It is also used in preparation of many food items. It is usually if white color.

Shortening, Spread, Butter and Margarine are the types of food products that we use in our daily life especially in breakfast. Shortening is a kind of fat which is solid at room temperature and is used to make pastry while spread is any product which is spread over bread and also add flavor to it. Butter and Margarine are each other’s substitutes and are used by spreading over bread products.
