Earth is provided with all the facilities which are essential for the survival of mankind. One of such god gifts is water. The main sources of water are rivers and oceans. Here we are going to discuss some difference about common water bodies
Bay
A bay is a area of water which is usually surrounded by water and as it is surrounded by land so it has calm water due to the blockage of winds by land.
Stream
A stream is a fast flowing water body. It is usually confined in stream banks and has a narrow passage. This narrow passage makes the speed of water fast.
Lake
Lake is a water body which is usually found in mountains. It is fed by the stream or river water and has calmer water which is deeper than a pond.
Gulf
Gulf is a bay of larger size. It originates from ocean and goes deep into the land area forming an arm of ocean or a sea.
River
A river is a water course which is flowing towards an ocean, sea or another river. It has fresh water and its course varies according to area.
Sea
It is a large body of water which has salted water. It receive water from rivers, lakes and streams and is connected to ocean.
Ocean
It is the main body of salted water. Oceans are also a part of hydrosphere. More than seventy percent of world is covered by oceans.

By is a water body surrounded by land while gulf is a larger bay which originate from sea or ocean. Stream is a narrow fast flowing water body while river is relatively deeper and wide. Lake is a water body usually surrounded by mountains and fed by streams. Sea is a salted water body connected with ocean and these oceans are the main salted waters which are part of hydrosphere.
