What is the Difference between Isolated and Scattered Thunderstorms
A weather condition that is known as thunder storm is the result of lightning effect on the earth. The special features of thunderstorm are like heavy rain, strong winds and snow without precipitation. Thunderstorms can appear on the earth either in the form of rain band or line up in series. We can see thunderstorms in two different forms in terms of time and space. One is known as isolated thunderstorm and the other type is scattered thunderstorm. Here is a difference between these two types of thunderstorm.
Isolated Thunderstorms
If the affected area by thunderstorm is not very big, but only a specific place, then this form of thunderstorm is known as isolated thunderstorm. A common observation about isolated thunderstorm is that at one time, it occurs at one place not more. We can predict the occurrence of thunderstorm up to 20 percent, not more than this. However, this prediction also depends upon this fact that at what place rain is happening at that time other than the area of thunderstorm.
Scattered Thunderstorms
The other type of thunderstorm, known as scattered thunderstorm, does not occur at place at a time, but more than one place at a time. Moreover, not only areas of scattered thunderstorm could be different at the same time, but its duration at different places could vary as well. the extent of variation could be estimated from this fact that at the same time, one half of road could be under the influence of this thunderstorm, but the other half may not.
Isolated Thunderstorms vs Scattered Thunderstorms
The key difference between these two types of thunderstorm is that the forecasts of scattered thunderstorms are made at 30%-50%; while, isolated thunderstorms are made at 20%. Similarly, scattered thunderstorms occur in different places, but the focus of isolated thunderstorms is on just one place only. The coverage area of isolated thunderstorm is less than 15 % as compared to scattered that covers 25-54 %.
