What is the Difference between Sour Cream, Yellow and White American Cheese
Milk is nature’s one of the most beneficial gift for mankind. It is treated is many different ways to get the other products. Three such products are sour cream, yellow cheese and white cheese. All the three products are rich in fat and are used in many dishes to add not only the taste but also the good looks and good texture. They should not be considered three different varieties of same thing. They as well as their uses are different.
Sour Cream
It is the dairy product which is made by milk by fermentation. The bacteria taken from lactic acid make this cream sour. Sour cream looks much like yogurt but it is not actually yogurt. It contains 15-20% fats. So it is not much desirable with this much of fat. Now the new versions of sour cream are either light or no-fat versions. It is thick in texture. It is used in heavy baking, toppings in some drinks and even in thickening the sauces.
Yellow and White Cheese
The yellow and the white cheese are one and the same except the difference in the colors. Yellow cheese is orangey while the other is white. Both have same salt sweet and sour taste, the texture is the same i.e. creamy and fatty and the use is also the same. Cheese is liked in baking. The both cheese types are made from pure cow milk and it takes the cheese to mature in almost 15 months. The more the cheese is aged the better it tastes. Also the salty tastes of the cheese are due to adding salt in milk while preparing cheese.
Sour Cream vs White and yellow Cheese
The sour cream is very fatty because it contains 15-20% of fats. The cheese do not contains this much of fats in it. The preparation method of both differs altogether. The sour cream takes not much time in preparation whereas cheese does. The uses of sour cream are more than cheese. Cheese has long age and its taste grows over time whereas sour cream lacks this quality.
