What is the Difference between Vicodin and Percocet
Obviously, we feel need of some medicine in case of every kind of pain, either it would be severe or moderate. However, not all pain killer medicines are suitable for every type of pain. Some are suitable in case of ordinary pain, while some are recommended for severe pain management. Vicodin and Percocet are the names of two widely using medicines in case of having some pain. No doubt, both medicines are used in pain management, but differ widely in terms of chemical composition, results and nature of pain management.
Vicodin
Vicodin is an analgesic type medicine, which is narcotic based. Today, the use of Vicodin has become very much as a post pain management medicine after some surgical treatments. The chemical constituents of this medicine are hydrocodone and Paracetamol. Actually, the affect of hydocodone is an opioid pain killer, which is the specialty of this medicine. Being class 3 medicine, vicodin is a pathetic narcotic.
Percocet
Percocet is also analgesic narcotic and found very effective in case of severe pain management. Chemically, Percocet is composed of oxycodone and aspirin. The specialty of oxycodone is its highly appreciating role in case of moderate to brutal pain relief. Percocet is class 2 medicine and considered as a strong narcotic analgesic.
Vicodin vs Percocet
No doubt, both Vicodin and Percocet are the narcotic painkillers, however there sre some key differences between them. The first is their chemical composition, which is hydrocodone in case of Vicodin and oxycodone in case of Percocet. Moreover, Percocet is a strong narcotic analgesic in contrast to Vicodin, which is a weaker one and not used in severe pain management. Similary, vicodine is a 3 category pain killer rather than Percocet, which falls under second category narcotic analgesic. Vicodin is considered as very effective in case of post surgical treatments.
