What is the Difference between Full Figured, Overfat, Overweight and Obese
The percentage of fat persons has become very much all over the globe. over-eating and long rest without any work done are the major causes of being fat or obese. There are various words that are used to describe the condition of fat persons. Some commonly used words are full figured, over fat, overweight and obese. Almost all people use these words alternatively and don’t think that there could be some difference in the meaning of these words. Let’s see, how much the concept of people is right in terms of difference in the meaning of these words.
Full Figured
Full figured is a term which is widely used in the film word to express the women having heavy body. It does not mean that the term “Full Figured” is only used for movie star with heavy weight. This term is also used for common people as an alternate of word “Fat”.
Overfat
Overfat is very specific term which is not necessarily used for overweight persons. The persons who have more than normal percentage of fats in their bodies are called overfat persons. There is a standard for percentage of normal fats in the people and above this standard, all persons can fall in the category of overfat. The standard for fat is 12-18% for men and 18-22% for women which is the border line between normal and overfat persons.
Overweight
To characterize a person “Overweight” there is a simple criteria or measuring scale which is called “Body Mass Index”. Body Mass Index is the weight and height ratio. If Body Mass Index is 25, the person is called overweight.
Obese
A person is called obese when he gains excess body fats to such extent that the health of that person affected badly. In case of obesity, the chances of getting various diseases like diabetes, heart disease and sleep apnea. Some tough physical activity and dieting could be the solution of this problem.
Full Figured vs Overfat vs Overweight vs Obese
No doubt, there is some difference between Full Figured, Overfat, Overweight and Obese. However, the causes behind each term is almost common. These causes are over-eating, lack of work done or daily physical activity, long rest and sometimes genetic susceptibility. In case of obesity, Body Mass Index reaches up to 30 instead of 25 which is the limit of being overweight. However, full figured is just a term used in the media community to indicate fat women.
