What is the Difference between Dslr, Digital Camera, Handycam and Camcorder
It is human nature that we want to record our good memories and important events in our lives. Advancement of technology has enabled us to do this and now different devices are available, which can help in recording live events. Dslr, Digital camera, handycam and camcorder are few devices, which are used for taking still photos and recording videos of the events. A common man cannot differentiate between them and usually these terms are used interchangeably. Here are some differences between these terms.
Dslr
Dslr stands for Digital single lens reflex cameras. These digital cameras are a combination of single lens reflex camera and a digital camera back. In this camera photographic film has been replaced. Now a day, DSLRs are used by the professional photographers, but common people can also use them. The image sensors in these cameras are usually large.
Digital Camera
Digital camera takes video as well as still images. These are the most common camera today. These cameras are available as standalone cameras and these are also incorporated in other devices as well, like mobile phones. These cameras have an optical system, which has a changeable diaphragm to focus light on the image to be photographed.
Handycam
Handycam is the name used for the camcorder, which is manufactured by Sony. It means, Sony has given the name handycam to its camcorders. It was launched in 1985 by the company and now available in verity of different models. This camera is quite smaller than larger shoulder cameras and one can easily carry it in hand.
Camcorder
The combination of video camera and video recorders is called as camcorder. Camcorder is the colloquial name the actual name of the device is Video camera recorder. Different devices have these video recording abilities, but the term camcorder is used for portable device which can capture and record video as a primary function.
Dslr vs Digital Camera vs Handycam vs Camcorder
Dslr is the single lens reflex camera, which is a combination of single lens and digital camera, while digital camera has a different optical system as compared to Dslr. Camcorder is another device use to capture and record the video, handycam is also a camcorder. Sony camcorders are called as handycam. Now a day, different gadgets like mobile phones also have digital camera and camcorder. Dslr and handycame are used as standalone devices. Users can easily take all these gadgets with them and can save their sweet memories.
