What is the Difference between CKC and AKC Registered Dogs
Many people love to keep pets. Cats, birds and peacocks are some famous pets. But, dogs are common than all of them. People love to keep dogs, as it is faithful animal and some dogs can also work for their masters. In civilized societies, registration of dogs is very important, for their health and safety of their masters. In America two clubs are famous for the registration of dogs. AKC and CKC are famous throughout the United States. Many people think that these clubs are same, but actually they are different. We are describing the difference between them.
CKC Registered Dogs
Continental Kennel Club or CKC is not only known throughout the America, but in all over the world. It deals with the registration of dog breeds. CKC was established in 1991, almost 20 years ago. CKC allows the registration f every dog, even if its parents were not registered. However, two witness and three pictures are required for the validity of breed. If the club is not satisfied with the dog breed, it will not register the dog. Based on their criteria, they identify around 450 breeds of dogs. CKC use DNA testing, whenever required for checking the validity of breeds. Preferred Breeders Program is a special program of CK club, which help breeders to adhere to the best breeding practices for producing offspring.
AKC Registered Dogs
The American Kennel Club or AKC is one of the oldest clubs in United States, which deal in registration of dog breeds. It was established in 1880 and was the only club of its own kind, for a long period of time. The rules and regulation for the registration are very clear. AKC requires that all dogs must have their parents registered, previously. Due to this strict criterion, they identify only 150 breeds. AKC performs DNA inspection and kennel conditions. Before registration they check DNA health of breed and kennel cleanliness, if they are not satisfied they will suspend the registration.
CKC vs AKC Registered Dogs
Both clubs deal in dog breeds registration. AKC is an older club, established in 1880s while CKC is just 20 years old, established in 1991. AKC has only 150 registered breeds, while CKC has 450 registered breeds. Both clubs has different criteria for registration of dogs. Both have different pricing plans. AKC charges for canines and litters, while CKC charges only for canine registration. CKC offers unique registration service like photo registration, photo ID cards etc, while AKC do not offer any such service. Preferred Breeders Program is a unique offer of CKC club, AKC does not offer any such service.
