What is the Difference between Vitamin K1, Potassium, Vitamin K and K2
Micro nutrients play a very important role in the proper functioning of human body. Although, they are required in very minute amount, but their deficiency may lead to many serious health issues. Vitamin k and potassium are two micro nutrients. Here we are discussing difference between them.
Vitamin K1
K1 is a vital vitamin, which is found in green leafy vegetables. Now days, it is synthesize artificially too. This vitamin acts as prothrombinogenic agent. In case of its deficiency it is provided to the patient through oral route.
Potassium
K is the symbol of a chemical element, which is called Potassium. It’s a naturally occurring element which has atomic number 19. It is soft white metal, which reacts with water and oxidizes in air, very quickly.
Vitamin K
Vitamin K is a group of fat soluble vitamins, which are same in structure. This group of vitamins is essential for blood coagulation and plays a vital role in metabolic pathways. Vitamin K1 and K2 are two naturally occurring forms of this vitamin.
Vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 is a type of Vitamin K. K2 performs same functions as K1 and its structure is also same but a different side chain is the marl of difference between the two K vitamins.
Vitamin K1 vs Potassium vs Vitamin K vs K2
Vitamine K is found is leafy green vegetable and K1 and K2 and two natural occurring types of this vitamin. K1 is called Phytonadione while K2 is called as menaquinone. K1 and K2 performs same functions in body, appearance of different side chains make them different from each other. Vitamin K helps is absorbing food in human body; its deficiency can lead to osteoporosis and heart diseases. Potassium is a naturally occurring chemical element, which has symbol K, but it has nothing to do with Vitamin K or any member of this group of vitamins.
